Transfers

Hand a profile to another matchmaker — with the family's own say in it.

In a nutshell

  • A transfer moves full ownership of a profile from one matchmaker to another — not a copy, a handover.
  • Unless the family has opted out, their own approval is the final step, not just the two matchmakers agreeing.

Once a transfer completes, the original matchmaker no longer has access to the profile at all.

A transfer can be proposed by the matchmaker who currently holds the profile, or the one who wants it.

  • Both matchmakers have to be connected to the profile already — a transfer isn't how you first meet a family.
  • The receiving matchmaker has to accept before anything moves.
  • The family gets the final word, unless they've explicitly opted out of approving transfers.
  • A matchmaker can turn on auto-accept so incoming requests skip their own manual review step — the family's gate still applies.

The family can require their own approval

This is a per-profile setting, on by default.

Approval required (default)

  • Both matchmakers agreeing is not enough on its own
  • The transfer sits in "awaiting approval" until the family responds
  • The family can decline it outright

Approval switched off

  • The transfer completes as soon as the receiving matchmaker accepts
  • Meant for cases where the family has explicitly said this isn't needed

This is a deliberate trust boundary

It exists so a profile can't change hands purely on an arrangement between two matchmakers, without the person it belongs to knowing.

From request to handover

Five possible outcomes for a transfer request.

"Cancelled" is the sender backing out; "Rejected" is the other matchmaker or the family saying no.

What changes when it completes

The essentials once ownership has moved.

Who initiates
Either matchmaker already connected to the profile.
Old matchmaker's access
Removed entirely once the transfer completes.
Albums & media grants
Cleaned up as part of the handover so old access doesn't linger.
Auto-accept
A matchmaker setting that skips their own manual review — the family's gate still applies.
Reversible?
Not directly — a new transfer back would be a fresh request.
