Magic Links

One link, no password — a family opens what you've shared with them.

In a nutshell

  • A magic link signs a family straight into their profile — no email, password or app account for them to set up.
  • Regenerating a link kills every session it was signed into; revoking it removes access outright.

A link instead of a login

For families who won't create an account, a magic link gets them straight to what you've shared.

You generate the link

You share it (WhatsApp, SMS, however works)

They open it

They land signed in on their dashboard

Generate, share, done

You create the link from the profile; the family clicks it and lands signed in.

  • No email or password is ever required on the family's side.
  • The link expires automatically after a set number of hours if you don't regenerate it.
  • It works the same on a phone browser or a laptop.
  • You stay in control — regenerate or revoke at any time.

One session per device type

A token can be signed in on one desktop and one mobile device at the same time — not unlimited devices.

Desktop sessions
1 active at a time
Mobile sessions
1 active at a time
Same device again
Re-opening the link on the same browser/device refreshes the session — no conflict.
A different device
Opening the link on a second device of the same type is blocked until the link is regenerated.

Why the cap exists

It keeps a link that leaks (forwarded in a group chat, for example) from quietly staying open on devices you don't know about.

Regenerate, revoke, or let it expire

Three ways a magic link stops working — only one of them is permanent.

ActiveRegeneratedyou regenerate it
RegeneratedActivea new link is issued (old one dead)
ActiveRevokedyou revoke it
ActiveExpiredthe expiry time passes

Regenerating is the normal way to "kick everyone off and start fresh" — it issues a new link and invalidates every session on the old one.

Quick reference

The essentials in one place.

Who it's for
Families/seekers without their own account or who don't want to manage a password.
Expiry
Set in hours when the link is created; it stops working on its own after that.
Regenerate
Issues a new link and signs out every existing session on the old one.
Revoke
Clears the link entirely — nothing to open until a new one is generated.
Password needed?
Never — the link itself is the credential.
